With its roots in myth and legend, fantasy is the most elemental of all the genres.

Beginning perhaps with the Epic of Gilgamesh and the earliest written documents known to humankind, elements that would eventually come to define fantasy and its various sub-genres have been a part of some of the grandest and most celebrated works in all of history. From The Odyssey to Beowulf, from Arthurian Legend and medieval romance to the epic Divine Comedy, in every known culture the world over, fantastical adventures featuring brave heroes and heroines, deadly monsters, and secret arcane realms have stirred the mind and inspired the soul for as long as we've had the ability to tell of them. In this way, fantasy has been so intimate a part of the history of our species, one might say that it's part of what makes us human.

Myth and legend has been an important part of culture since the beginning. Literature began with these stories. They explained the world that people lived in, provided lessons about behavior and consequences, and entertained as well. Fantasy opens the door to experiencing the magic that is in the world around us and more importantly the magic in ourselves.

So in closing, Fantasy... by definition, is the free play of creative imagination. I hereby invite all of you to join us on this journey through Fantasy art, seen through the imagination of a collective of artists with their Fantasy works proudly displayed here.

Also if anyone would be kind enough to donate a subscription to the club, it would be very much appreciated. I'd like to join if I could ^-^ I write fantasy stories so surrounding myself with other individuals with similar interest should be a fun experience that could even help my writing skill while entertaining others. :D
